Aaliyah Dana Haughton and Aarti Mann

Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into the limelight in 1994 when she released her debut Album Age Ain't Nothing More Than a Number. When she was just 15 the album was awarded Gold recognition. R. Kelly was a major influence on this collaboration which put the singer into the spotlight. The year 1996 saw her release her second album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the hit number one track If Your Girl Only knew. With the success of this album, Aaliyah gained international attention for her work as an R&B artist. She appeared alongside the martial arts legend Jet Li in 2000's romance-action film Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the film Romeo Must Die caught her at an award ceremony. She was a part of the film based on Anne Rice, a vampire movie Queen of the Damned, which was released in 2002. The Matrix Sequels saw her as Zee, after appearing in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions that same year. Aarti Mann is the first generation Indian-American born in Connecticut. Mann is her stage name. Mann is derived from her marriage name Mankad. But, she has both Aarti Mann as well as Aarti Majumdar as her professional name. Her acting career began in minor film and TV parts, however her fame was growing in the late 2000s. Some of her other notable work include Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. In addition, she was a part of several commercials, including Volvo and other major automobile brand names. She lives in Los Angeles where she continues to perform as an actor.
