Aaliyah's debut album Age Ain't Nothing but a Number came out in 1994. Aaliyah Dana Haughton was just 15 when the album became Gold. R. Kelly heavily influenced this collaboration, and helped to bring the artist up to the top of the charts. In 1996 she collaborated with Jermaine Dpri as well as Timbaland in her sophomore studio album One In A Million, that included the top-selling track If Your Girl Only Knew. After the debut of the album Aaliyah gained international attention for her performance as an R&B performer. She starred with the legendary martial artist Jet Li in 2000's romantic-action movie Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, the film producer, saw her during an awards show and suggested her the part. In 2002, she appeared as part of the Anne Rice-based thriller Queen of the Damned. The Matrix Sequels saw her playing Zee and appeared as a character in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions that same year. She received four nominations for Grammys, in 1999, 2001 and 2002. Aarti Mann is an Indian-American from the her first generation, of origin born in Connecticut. Her stage name Mann is an abbreviation of her marital name Mankad. Aarti uses both Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn as professional names. The acting career of her began in early 2000 with small roles on TV and films. Her other noteworthy works include Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. The actress has been featured in a variety of commercials, including Volvo's global car producer. Her acting career continues with her home in Los Angeles, where she lives with her son and husband.
