Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American businesswoman for more than twenty years. She is the owner and director of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss, who is born in California, was raised in an exceptionally wealthy family. Their father Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon, who was later the proprietor of the Lakers as well as other sports companies. The emotional strain she felt was exacerbated when her parents separated in the year 1972. At the age of 19 she inherited the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as General Manager. In the following years, she created the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. Before she became vice president of the Lakers She was also the president of the Great Western Forum. Her father died in 2013, and his control over ownership of the Lakers was passed on to Buss and her five siblings through a family trust that gave each sibling the same vote. Buss assumed the role of the president for the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss also owns Women of Wrestling, a professional organization that has its headquarters at Los Angeles.
